My creative practice history

I have had an on-and-off Love/hate relationship with creativity.

As a young person, I was incredibly creative; I studied Fine Art but neglected to practice as my university experience had left me a bit lost and doubting who I was. However, I had to use my creative resources to save myself during testing times.

In 2011, Digital Photography allowed me to explore my creativity and bolster my creative confidence by starting a photography business to get out of the life hole created by the recession. I ran it for eight years. It's always an instant source of limitless creativity for me. Be it travel, artwork-based, or client-based, I like to explore collaging, moments of light and dark, colour, forms, values, and contrast.

After 14 years of not picking up a paintbrush, I've discovered the power of painting and playing with abstraction for my mental health maintenance, and I paint and sketch with charcoal to process and observe what is happening in my mind. It has been an endless source of learning, healing, and confidence-building.

Now, I'm pulling my experience together and embracing my inner child to play and explore. From that, endless possibilities and connections emerge. I am thankful that I can express myself this way to be deeply recognised and understood, and combined with my many years of experience in facilitation, I can connect and unify people and empower them to do the same.
